What is Restaurant Quality Pasta?

There is a soft spot in my tummy that is hidden away just for things like pasta. Candy, cookies and other items of that nature are also allowed in there. That is a zone that is not too hard to find. Leave it to a pizza place to try.

Recently, a big chain Pizza joint that we occasionally enjoy delivery from has joined the, errr, pasta race. Pizza Hut has decided to begin offering pasta on their menu, right along the very common side dish, buffalo wings. That was a joke - what those two have in common, I just don’t know, but we’ve ordered them, too. It’s a great idea if you think about it - maybe someone wants an Italian meal, but not pizza. Now everyone’s happy.

Any way, what I didn’t really get about this new offering was why they would make it sound so completely lame - Restaurant Quality? Aren’t you a restaurant? If I wasn’t so lazy one night, couldn’t I actually head down to your place and sit in your, errr, restaurant and order my pie or pasta right there? I understand you’re trying to reach the consumer and trying to differentiate your product from a can of Chef Boyardee, but hey, just say what it is…hot, tasty gourmet style pasta delivered to your door. Wasn’t that easy?

It reminds me of comedian Jim Gaffigan ordering food on the phone: ” Yeah, I like your food, just not enough to go down there and get it.”
